Tips to Increase Your Child's Bicycle Safety

For our blog this week, we thought it pruDENT (pun intended ;-) to stay with the overall safety topic but this time, address an area that pertains to child safety on two-wheels instead of four.  As is our way week-in-and-week-out, we scour the web looking for great topics to cover and share.  This week was no exception. While conducting our shared-content search, we came upon the safercar.gov website.  First and foremost, we invite everyone reading this blog to please take a moment to check out this comprehensive safety website full of great info, facts and figures that will help keep you and your family safe. As we perused the safercar.gov website, we found many subjects that we wanted to share. One in particular covered "Tips to Increase Your Child's Bicycle Safety". As all drivers know, safety at all times is critical inside as well as outside the vehicle. Knowing that, we selected some highlights of the "Bicycle Safety Tips" info, listing them below for your review.

Before every ride, remember the ABCs and check the:

  • Air in the tires.
  • Brakes
  • Chain

The old saying goes a long way when it comes to bicycle safety ... "Practice Makes Perfect". Also. Using the right SIZE gear like bicycle and helmet will also help keep your children safe while on two-wheels.

For more information on this topic, please check out the "Tips to Increase Your Child's Bicycle Safety" web page on the safercar.gov website.
